:: wise enough ::

words and music by Carolynne H. Brown

Sometimes I feel you don’t understand me,
then all at once, you say the words I need
and show me how to reach the stars above me
while standing on my own two feet.
And if I run so far I’m weary,
you pull me back and you make me see the truth.
And if I break you have a patience that listens
and hears me through.

And sweetheart, I will never be as strong as you,
but I can stand and face my fears.
And if you’re cold, I have a fire
that’s bright enough to last through all the tears.
I may be weak, but I’m wise enough to hear what you say
and put my selfishness away.

And if your quiet, I’ll be understanding.
And when life calls you, I will step aside
and wait until you need a companion
to share with you in all your pride.
And though you falter, my heart is tender
and longs to know all of you.

And sweetheart, I will never be as strong as you,
but I can stand and face my fears.
And if you’re cold, I have a fire
that’s bright enough to last through all the tears.
I may be weak, but I’m wise enough to hear what you say
and put my selfishness away.
