:: turning point ::

words and music by Carolynne H. Brown

There’s a thorny path that lies behind me.
There’s nothin’ there but deep and rugged valley.
I press on the way I know to go,
but never with a foothold sure and strong.
But now it’s time to change direction,
there’s another course to take.
With my arms wide open I start to run
and feel the wind on my face
blowing away the fears that hold me back.

It’s a turning point, a choice I make,
a chance to try my faith.
It’s a turning point, I can’t go back,
I don’t want to stay in that place.
My mind is free, it belongs to me.
No need to be held in captivity.
It’s a turning point, a choice I make
a chance to try my faith.
It’s a turning point, I can’t go back,
I don’t want to stay in that place.

When I see my life stretched out before me
it’s hard to understand which way to go.
Struggling with hesitations that I don’t need,
forgetting that I never walk alone.
There is One who goes before me
making rough places plane.
He leads me to a place of gladness
where all sorrow flees away.
I will walk there someday.
