:: i stand ::
words and music by Carolynne H. Brown
Here I stand, all alone
wondering, is there hope?
I have tried to live Your ways,
but I’m despised, and I am shamed.
Must I cry so many tears?
Must I feel all this pain?
Now it seems my purity is in vain.
Isn’t there any other way?
Why won’t the storm pass me by?
Lord, I know You’re by my side,
so I stand.
The fire of refinery—
will it bring forth the best of me?
Will I pass this test I face?
Will I find strength within Your grace?
Lord, I know You’ll keep me safe,
so I stand.
It’s been so long since I’ve seen
Salvation’s joy, salvation’s peace.
Sorrow’s voice has called my name
And I have sung its sad refrain.
Isn’t there any other way?
I watch as evil doers rage,
but Lord, I know You’ll keep me safe,
so I stand.
